Job summary
Within the role of a health care assistant in Endoscopy, you will be providing care to patients who attend the unit for endoscopic procedures.
You will be required to:
- deliver high quality compassionate care safely within a challenging and changing environment, using equipment and resources as appropriate.
- have proficient attitudes and behaviors compatible with GHNHSFT and NHS values.
- work as part of the endoscopy team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual.
- carry out specific delegated tasks and responsibilities to a high standard and competency.
- assist in meeting service delivery targets.
-be a team player within the unit and contribute to the smooth running of the clinical area.
- to work within the unit hours and also work at the weekend when rostered to do so.
- to ensure correct storage of the endoscopes within the designated drying cabinets, preparation of equipment for transfer to other departments ready to use, to track and trace endoscopic equipment ensuring safety checks are carried out at every stage.
- under supervision, will manually clean and reprocess endoscopes complying with Trust guidelines, standard operating procedures, health & safety and COSHH and HTMO1 standards.
Main duties of the job
Working in Endoscopy you will:
- welcome patients when they arrive and assisting with their admission to the unit.
- care for patients during their endoscopic procedures.
- care for patients while they are recovering from their endoscopic procedures.
- work within the decontamination area cleaning and caring for the endoscopes.
-transport patients to wards or other areas within the hospital.
