Job summary
We are looking to recruit a passionate and dynamic Anaesthetic Theatre Practitioner to join our friendly team in Gloucester Hospital.
Our theatre suite comprise of sixteen theatres covering a range of specialities including Emergencies, Orthopaedics, Gynae Elective and Obstetric, Urology, Upper GI, Colorectal, Breast and Vascular, ENT, Max Fax and Trauma.
We are looking to enhance our team with staff who are enthusiastic to learn advanced skills in preparation for increased theatre activity, using the latest advances in innovative surgery.
The working pattern you would be expected to fulfil within your working hours of up to 37.5 will include a range of shifts covering a 24/7 service, including, weekends, late shifts and nights. Full-time and part-time contracts available.
Please note, applications will only be considered from registered ODP's or registered Nurses with an approved UK anaesthetic qualification.
Main duties of the job
You will be working as part of the perioperative multidisciplinary theatre team delivering exceptional care for patients attending for their surgery.
The post holder will be a HCPC registered ODP or NMC registered nurse with an anaesthetic qualification who will assess, plan, implement and evaluate high quality, safe and compassionate care for patients in the perioperative setting, providing specialist assistance to the anaesthetist. This care will be facilitated utilising evidence-based perioperative standards, trust policies as well as local and national guidelines (e.g. NICE, NatSSIPS).
Your role will include the preparation of a wide range of specialist equipment, including anaesthetic machines, intravenous and airway equipment. During the surgical procedure the anaesthetic practitioner will also provide essential support between the surgical team and other parts of the operating theatre and hospital. The anaesthetic practitioner will be responsible for the preparation and safe transfer of the patient to the Critical Care or Recovery area. The job role will require the applicant to work within a range of settings and specialities, and cross-site working may be required on occasion.
