Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Lead Coordinator/Cancer Pathway Navigator within the GI Surgery service line at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a skilled and adaptable individual to manage the daily administrative operations while ensuring the accurate monitoring and validation of cancer pathways for all patients receiving treatment within the service.

Main duties of the job

This role is designed to support the medical secretarial team and assist the general managerial team in achieving key Trust objectives, including cancer / RTT targets, clinic & theatre utilisation.

Previous experience in an NHS setting is essential to ensure a smooth transition into this dynamic role where you will contribute to the operational success and efficiency of the departments within the Trust.

Job responsibilities

This position is an integral part in the improvement of the GI cancer pathways in line with the national timed pathways

The post holder will ensure that the pathway is co-ordinated efficiently and effectively, patient pathways are actively tracked to meet cancer waiting times standards in line with the national timed pathway

Contribute to the on-going development of the diagnostic pathways in relation to the drive to implement the national timed pathways

To co-ordinate the patient GI cancer pathway for the Trust, and have highly functioning planning and organisational skills

Be responsible for all administrative tasks involved in managing patient pathways

Be responsible for day-to-day management, organisation and delegation of relevant tasks and roles to others as required in relation to the cancer pathways

Be responsible for data capture and data entry for Cancer Alliance and internal Cancer Services purposes.

Ensure efficient and effective management of medical secretarial services within the Directorate. Providing leadership and day to day support to the secretarial team.

Develop and lead local induction/on-going training programme for medical secretarial staff in conjunction with TRAK/IMT.

Responsible for leading modernisation initiatives with secretarial staff to achieve continuous improvement in service provision

  • Extensive and demonstrable knowledge and experience of the full range of administrative systems, software programmes to include all Microsoft applications (word, excel, access, email).
