Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Renal and Acute dietitian teams at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The post holder will support registered dietitians in the provision of dietetic services to inpatient and outpatients. The role will have a mix of both clinical and administrative tasks.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide after a period of training the post holder will be able to provide support with clinical tasks and clinical information to see whether dietetic input is required, dietary analysis and patient facing tasks such as nutritional screening and with nutrition support reviews under the guidance of the dietitians.
About us
We are a large friendly department based on 2 sites; Cheltenham General Hospital (CGH) & Gloucestershire Royal Hospital (GRH).The team is also made up of the Home Enteral Feeding Team (HEFT).
Within the department at GRH we have a team of Acute Dietitians, Renal Dietitians, Paediatric Dietitians and a Home Enteral Feed Team. At CGH we have a team of Oncology Dietitians as well as the Acute team. We also have a Nutrition Support Team, a Specialist Gastroenterology Team and Specialist Diabetes Dietitians working on both hospital sites. Our teams include dietitians, dietetic support workers, dietetic assistants and nurses.

The administrative element to the role will include the day-to-day co-ordination of the renal and acute dietetic service. Involving tasks such as inpatient statistics, updating databases, booking appointments, sending letters, checking & updating wards list including discharge tasks. The team member will be answering and co-ordinating calls from patients, inpatient wards and other health care professions.
There is scope for helping with group education and audits as part of this role too. Responsibility will also be taken for maintaining stock levels of resources including diet sheets, nutritional supplements and other additional leaflets/resources used regularly by the dietitians.
This post would be ideal for someone with good computer literacy with a working knowledge of software programmes such as Excel, Word, and trust systems e.g. TRAK, Infoflex, Sunrise EPR. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and an ability to co-ordinate and work in a team are essential.

- Hold/willing to work towards level 3 or equivalent in health/social care or science
- Information Technology literate, capable with MS Office and Internet-based applications
- Experience of working with people, ideally in health, social or educational capacity
