Job summary

We are excited to be able to offer an amazing opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist to join our integrated stroke therapy team for maternity cover. This is an excellent opportunity for a Physiotherapist with stroke specialist skills and proven leadership experience to join a supportive and dynamic team.

We are looking for a candidate with proven specialist stroke skills, who will be responsible for the provision of expert therapy, across both our hyper- acute and acute stroke units. The successful candidate will be passionate about stroke and the delivery of a quality service, leading on evidence- based practice and application of local and national stroke service objectives. They will be motivated to develop themselves, colleagues and the service alongside the demands of working in a busy acute hospital.

The post is full-time but part-time hours will be considered for the right applicant.

Main duties of the job

- To support the operational management of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff working within the stroke team, including supervision, annual appraisal, training and general support.

- To deal with issues relating to performance management (in consultation with Human resources and the Lead Therapist) to effectively manage staff within the clinical team.

- The post holder will ensure effective stock control and use of resources to support budget management. This includes reviewing staff resources and skill mix to meet service need. The post holder assumes responsibility for the day to day management of the clinical area.

- When performing on call duties, staff must be available on the ward within 45 minutes of the call.* For staff living more than 45 minutes from the hospital, a designated on-call room for overnight stay is available in GRH and is free of charge. This room can be used by staff at both sites.
