Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our early pregnancy assessment team. This post is offered as a part time post for 22.5 hours per week, to include weekend and bank holiday working. Working days may vary. Our clinic hours are 8am-4pm.

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced nurse to to join our existing, dedicated and highly skilled team. You will be committed to providing high quality clinical care in accordance with national and trust guidelines, with the desire to make a difference to women and their partners by working as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. As a nurse practitioner in early pregnancy assessment your role is to provide holistic care and support from initial consultation to discharge to women and their partners who are experiencing complications in early pregnancy.

Main duties of the job

As part of the well established early pregnancy nursing team, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in the area of early pregnancy care.

The successful candidate will work within our Early Pregnancy Unit to deliver an expert service to patients from initial consultation to discharge. The role will include triage of referrals to ensue patients are booked an appropriate appointment. In addition you will undertake clinical assessment, history taking, ordering and interpreting of diagnostic tests, ensuring that appropriate management plans are made in accordance with national guidance.

The early pregnancy assessment unit is led by an Lead advanced nurse practitioner, supported by 4 advanced nurse practitioners and a team of sonographers. There is a lead consultant for the service providing 2 clinics a month for complex cases whilst being available for clinical support/advice. The team provides a 7 day service based in gynaecology outpatients at Gloucester Royal Hospital seeing approximately 5000 new and follow up appointments per year
