Job summary

If you are, an exciting job opportunity has arisen on Mayhill unit for Band 5 registered Nurses.Mayhill unit is a 14 hour unit that provides pre and post operative care. We specialise in Ear Nose and Throat, General/Gynae, Breast, Oral maxillo facial, Vascular and Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery. Mayhill Unit has a fantastic team of dedicated Surgical Nurses who pride themselves in delivering outstanding care. The environment is challenging, exciting and supportive, and facilitates the development of specialised skills. You will enjoy working as part of a highly skilled and motivated team that includes Nurses, Health Care Assistant, Anaesthetists, Theatre and Recovery staff. Main duties of the job

Demonstrate ability to assess patient condition and implement appropriate care, within the multidisciplinary team.

To communicate effectively, especially where patient ability to do so is compromised.

Ability to disseminate contentious and delicate information appropriately.

To deliver safe care within a challenging and changing clinical environment.

To administer medication and treatment within Procedure for the Ordering, Prescribing and Administration of Medication Guidelines.Participate in mentorship and educational programs for students and other members of the team.

To adhere to all Trust policies and procedures and professional code of conduct.

To input and retrieve patient and staff information from computer based systems.

Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records.

  • Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • Intravenous therapy including cannulation and venepuncture
  • Medicine Management qualification

Desirable

  • Teaching and assessing qualification
  • Female and male catherisation

Experience

  • Experience within an acute clinical area
  • Enhanced IT skills

Desirable

  • Experience within the surgical speciality
  • Experience in high patient turnover

Knowledge / Skills
