Job summary

Ward 9a have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our gynaecology ward-based team on a part-time & permanent basis, working 16 hours per week. Shift patterns covering 24 hours a day, 7 days per week; may include night shifts, early, late and long day shifts plus weekends on a fair rota basis.

We recently have located the gynaecology in patient ward with the emergency gynaecology assessment unit within the ward area. This is an exciting development for our women in the county and is a chance to be a part of developing team & an evolving, responsive service. We are dedicated to providing quality care & treatment to our patients.

Main duties of the job

In this fast paced role, you will be required to assist our clinical teams in providing exemplary care within our department. your HCA duties will include routine tasks related to the delivery of care to ensure our patients' health and well-being

You will be required to undertake specific delegated tasks after appropriate training.

You will need to be organised and flexible and be able to respond to the changing working environment.

Often our patients can be going through a distressing event in their lives & you will be expected to use your communication skills effectively to help provide the support and help that they need.

You will need to be able to escalate any change in a patient's condition to the Registered Nurse.

You are expected to act as a chaperone to women while clinical examination is undertaken and assist the clinical team with procedures that are taking place.

The ability to maintain confidentiality and have an awareness of safeguarding issues is essential.
