Job summary

Chedworth Surgical Unit is a brand new purpose built unit that will take elective day case and surgical admissions on the Cheltenham site. You will be working as part of the Chedworth Surgical Unit team delivering exceptional care for the patients attending the unit.

Day case surgery is becoming more common, it now makes up approximately 70% of all surgery performed. There is an increased number of operations being carried out as a result of the elective recovery programme post pandemic. we require dynamic, compassionate and enthusiastic nurses to join the expanding team to deliver exceptional care to our patients.

Main duties of the job

- Work in a clinical environment and provide a high standard of patient care, able to assess and prepare both major and day surgery patients prior to undergoing elective surgery either under local or general anaesthesia.

- Admit and prepare patients for theatre

- Provide post-operative care to the day case patients and ensure a safe criteria led discharge home the same day.

- Work in both of the day case procedure clinics alongside the specialist teams

- Liaise with the MDT, to ensure a positive patient experience and optimal surgical outcome.
