The are two posts available for thisvacancy;

Post 1: 30.0hrs/week, permanent Dietetic Assistant Practitioner (DAP), Home Enteral Feeding Team (HEFT)

Post 2: 37.5hrs/week, Fixed term for 12 months, Dietetic Assistant Practitioner, Specialist Weight Management Service (SWMS).

These DAP roles offer an opportunity to learn and develop in a supported environment as part of a specialist wider multidisciplinary teams. The DAP joining the HEFT will join an established team of Dietetic Assistants working in the team with dietitians, nurses and admin support to care for patients in the community of Gloucestershire who require enteral feeding at home.

The post holder will be required to drive around the county to provide both dietetic and nursing support to the HEF patients. The DAP joining the SWMS will join a new Triage Team as part of a pilot project within the established SWMS. The pilot triage team aims to include a GP, mental health nurse, assistant psychologist and with dedicated management and administrative support. The role also includes working alongside specialist dietitians supporting the delivery of our group treatment programmes to patients.

Main duties of the job

These posts would be suitable for someone with a foundation degree/Level 4 qualification or equivalent in health/social care or a science, with care experience and an interest in nutrition support.

Post 1: Dietetic Assistant Practitioner (Band 4) in the Home Enteral Feeding Team (HEFT).

Main duties:

- Working across the county of Gloucestershire supporting specialist Dietitians and Enteral Nutrition Nurse Specialists to deliver care to those living at home with feeding tubes.

- Working autonomously with patients in their homes to undertake measurements and provide tube care

- Managing stock levels

- Taking call from patients gathering information and helping to formulate appropriate care plans

- Travelling across the county to provide care and support to those at home who are enterally fed

Post 2: Dietetic Assistant Practitioner (Band 4) in the Specialist Weight Management Service.

Main duties:

- Assisting in the assessment and screening referrals for individuals who may have varying physical and psychological presentations

- Liaising with healthcare professionals and patients to provide advice about the service

- Collating and interpreting patient information including questionnaires

- Supporting waiting list initiatives

- Communicating with the wider triage MDT and SWMS clinical team

- Attending MDT meetings

- Supporting the delivery of group programmes to patients in treatment

About us

Both post holders will be joining small friendly teams of experienced clinicians and will have access and links with dietitians in the wider dietetic department. The post holders will have access to bespoke education and training opportunities, working toward completing the Department DAP Competency Framework whilst working within the British Dietetic Association (BDA) professional Code of Professional Conduct.

Both teams are based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and sit within a bustling and friendly Nutrition and Dietetic Department. The successful post holder would be based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

Both teams core working hours are 08:30-16:30 Monday to Friday.
