A rare and exiting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Sister/Charge nurse to join our team on Coronary Care/ Cardiology ward at Gloucester Royal Hospital.

Main duties of the job

- To act as a resource for junior staff, peers and students assisting the lead and disseminating specialist clinical skills and knowledge.

- Ability to ensure personal and professional development is progressed through individual performance development review and PREP guidelines.

- Escalation of deterioration of patient condition to the appropriate staff member.

- Take personal responsibility as a team leader of patients.

- Ensure referrals are made to professional agencies/specialities as required

- You will delegate and supervise appropriate work to other team members.

- Discharge planning in conjunction with multi-disciplinary teams

- Ensure individual needs of patients are met as required and confidentiality & dignity is upheld at all times.

- Communicate effectively within the multi-disciplinary team, Wards and departments as required.

- Report episodes of sickness for self or those that are reported to you to the ward manager.

Currently between Cheltenham and Gloucester cardiac services we off coronary angiography, PCI, pacing/ICD's, CRT, Cardiac CT and TOE's for patients during their acute phase of their conditions. By the end of this year it will become single sited and opportunities for development.A total of 25 beds at our Gloucester site.

- Coronary Care Unit - contains an eight-bedded unit.

- Cardiology ward - houses a further 17 inpatient beds (to including 5 ensuite side rooms) for patients with a variety of cardiac conditions.

Applicants must have substantial nursing experience in acute care and continuing professional development relevant to cardiac as well as possessing a teaching and assessing qualification. The CCU in Gloucester works closely with the Hartpury Suite Cardiac Catheter Lab in Cheltenham. There will be plenty of opportunity to laisse and we encourage team members opportunities to spend time with all members of multidisciplinary team and liaise between both sites.
