Enhanced Supportive Care/Cancer care Specialist Dietitian

This role provides an exciting opportunity to work in a regional Oncology Centre alongside our Trusts Enhanced Supportive Care (ESC) Multidisciplinary Team 0.5wte combined with delivering in and out patient specialist care to a variety of cancer patients 0.5wte
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Dietitian to support delivery of nutritional care in our dynamic, innovative and developing ESC team. Delivering care throughout the patient's treatment pathway alongside our ESC MDT, Cancer care teams, and Home Enteral Feeding Team.
Your role will be directly supported by experienced and specialist Cancer care Dietitians including those in Head and Neck and Upper GI cancers. You will be supported by a Band 4 Dietetic Assistant practitioner.
We have a large, friendly and supportive Dietetic Department and work closely with the Trust Macmillan Pre-habilitation, and Next Steps Specialist Dietitians in GHC alongside the ESC multidisciplinary Team
Main duties of the job
You will be experienced within the NHS on aspects of nutritional care for adult patients receiving cancer care. Knowledge and experience of cancer interventions, treatments and delivering complex enteral nutritional support is beneficial.
We are looking for well-developed communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills. You will need to be an active and integral member of the Dietetic and ESC multidisciplinary professional cancer Team at all levels. In addition to being a highly skilled autonomous practitioner. You will also be able to demonstrate flexible working.
About us
We are a large friendly department based on 2 sites; Cheltenham General Hospital (CGH) & Gloucestershire Royal Hospital (GRH).
Within the department at GRH we have a team of Renal Dietitians, Paediatric Dietitians plus a Home Enteral Feed Team. At CGH we have a team of Oncology Dietitians plus the Acute team. We also have a Nutrition Team, a Specialist Gastroenterology Team and Specialist Diabetes dietitians working on both hospital sites.
Gloucestershire is a great area of the country in which to live with many areas of outstanding natural beauty, as well as excellent transport networks to the rest of the country.

- Degree/Diploma in Dietetics
- Registered with HCPC
- Evidence of successful clinical experience in NHS being autonomous practitioner and able to act on own initiative
- Able to demonstrate an expertise within a wide range of clinical dietetics in an acute hospital particularly in areas of cancer care
- Expertise in decision making and assessment of adult patients requiring enteral feeding - nasogastric, PEG, RIG etc.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including observation, listening, caring and empathy skills and can relate well to staff and patients
- Ability to assess individuals with complex medical problems and to plan their dietetic care
- Ability to recognise own professional limitations and when to seek advice from senior colleagues.
- Ability to make decision regarding change of practice based on clinical evidence and to disseminate evidence-based practice to other health professionals.
- Evidence of Continued CPD, including evidence of reflective practice, service evaluation and utilisation of best practice.
- Can cope with working across sites in a busy and changing environment with ability to remain calm & in control during busy phases
- Desire to deliver a high-quality service.

- Completed or working towards completion of relevant post-graduate study and experience of working at a senior level in this specialist area
- The ability to manage change and conflict to ensure resolutions with positive outcomes.
- Experience in implementing clinical governance
