Job summary

I am delighted to share this opportunity to join the Postgraduate Medical Education Faculty as Tutor for our International Medical Graduate Doctors (IMG's) and our Locally Employed Doctors (LEDS's.) The Postholder will join an outstanding team and contribute to continuing development of Gloucestershire's reputation as a centre of training excellent.

This is a new Trust Strategic Role, to promote and improve support for our IMG's and LED's here at GHNHSFT.

Main duties of the job

  • Work in collaboration with the Director of Medical Education (DME) and Associate Directors of Medical Education (ADME), in promoting sustainable support to IMG/LED Doctors, in collaboration with their Educational Supervisor. To assist the DME in providing quality assessment of the Trust's educational support of IMG's/LED's at GHNHSFT.
  • To lead and co-ordinate effective bespoke Induction Programmes for IMG's & LED's throughout the year, seeking to create an enhanced Welcome experience. This to include Welcome to UK Practice, GMC Overseas Doctors Induction, and Culture, to name but a few essential areas of practice to cover. To also continually be mindful, as to how we can improve ongoing support.
  • Establish a local IMG/LED Forum, with engagement from PGME/Educational Supervisors/IMG's/LED's, with the aim of promoting support provision for IMG/LED Medical Colleagues. Engage with existing Pastoral Trust/HEE (Health Education England) Systems and be actively linked with the Trust Educational Faculty Development Programme delivering information sessions to Trust Educational and Clinical Supervisors.

The IMG & LED Tutor Post, shows commitment to improving the IMG/LED experience, and allows the sharing of good practice across the GHNHSFT. The IMG & LED Tutor Post will also help this cohort to understand and feedback on the relevant Policies/Procedures, whilst supporting the sharing of good practice, improving their visibility within the organisation.

Increasing our capacity to support our IMG/LED colleagues will ultimately result in improve care for our patients.

  • Full registration with GMC without any conditions or restrictions on licence to practice
  • Employed as either a substantive Medical, or substantive Dental Practitioner at GHNSHFT

Experience

  • Interest and enthusiasm for improving the delivery of Post Graduate Medical Education, Continuing Professional Development and the Wellbeing of our IMG/LED Medical Workforce
  • Significant recent clinical experience at a senior level

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Understanding the key issues and complexity and pace of change facing the NHS Nationally and Locally
