Job summary

The GHNHSFT Maternity Services are looking to appoint a dynamic and experienced project manager for the post of Recruitment and Retention Project Manager (R&RPM). This Band 8A post is fixed term for 12 months, for 22.5 hours (0.6 WTE). The R&RPM will use project management methodology together with their knowledge of maternity services to drive service change in midwifery workforce recruitment and retention with an emphasis on midwifery wellbeing. The R&RPM will work with the Head of Midwifery to enhance and then support a focused and sustainable plan of work.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to manage a project to improve recruitment and retention within maternity services at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust . The post has been designed to accelerate the R&R plan completed by the Head of Midwifery This is a fixed term post for one year funded by NHS England to respond to the workforce issues within many maternity services.

The successful applicant will work with maternity service leads to develop a focused plan of work.

This role is suitable for those with clinical midwifery experience or those with recruitment experience. Registration as a midwife is not a stipulation of application.

Main duties of the job

- Responsible for the planning delivery and organisation of complex recruitment and retention improvement projects making use of appropriate project management methodology.

- Develop mechanisms for identifying and addressing individual needs of midwives

- Provide, or signpost to, resources that will promote job satisfaction and retention across multiple domains including those related to pastoral care, learning support and career development

- Provide individualised situated support in clinical environment for students, return to practice learners and early career midwives

- Responsibility for collating and analysing comprehensive documentation for projects and work streams, ensuring that all stakeholders use an agreed set of processes and systems to monitor performance against actions, milestones and timescale.

- To maintain an overview of all work streams performance against plan, identifying risks, issues, dependencies and relationships between work streams; advising on & implementing appropriate mitigating and corrective actions or adjustments to the project plan.

- Hold the budget for the project, manage resources, timescales and costs and provide regular reports to the Maternity Leadership team/ Maternity Delivery Group (MDG) including highlight and exception reports.

- Maintain project risk logs and develop contingency plans for identified issues.

- Act as expert resource for queries on project implementation and processes.

The post holder will have strategic change programmes and discrete projects to manage and will also be expected to provide professional advice, guidance supervision and support to other projects and programmes of work being undertaken within the teams as required.

The post holder is responsible for the design of project plans and ensuring their successful implementation within agreed timescales and budgets

- Liaise with other project managers and team members to maintain awareness of the project and identify conflicting resources and scheduling issues and risks.

- Ensure sufficient links made between Trust HOM/DOM and PWR leads to support effective data submission into existing provider workforce returns
