Main duties of the job
This post offers an exciting opportunity to develop skills and experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, in particular expertise in early pregnancy and delivery suite. The post is not recognised for training but will offer the similar experience as the ST1 and F2s who share the rota. Gloucester Hospital has no ST1-2 trainees in O & G and this means that if the post-holder wishes, they will have opportunities for excellent experience both on delivery suite and in theatre and if they wish will be supported to become confident and competent at uncomplicated instrumental deliveries and Caesarean sections and / or simple outpatient gynaecological procedures. There is also an active Quality Improvement Team and opportunities for participating in research. The post is a full shift EWTD compliant 1:8 rota.
Previous post-holders have taken advantage of these opportunities and have been successful in acquiring the part 1 MRCOG and in securing a training number in the Severn Deanery at the national interviews. Post holders have also produced high quality project reports, delivered training and teaching to medical students and Foundation doctors and contributed to national guidance at the RCOG.
