Job summary

Registered Nurse - Band 5 Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics OPD.

We have an exciting opportunity for a full time, 37.5 hours, Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our busy, friendly team within Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontic outpatient's department. This is a permanent position, with a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a new specialty and would benefit future career progression.

We run a nurse-led dressing clinic, caring for patients with complex wounds including grafts and donor sites.

We provide high quality care to a number of patients including those with Head and Neck Cancers.

We have expanded our clinics which include sedation and surgical treatments under local anaesthetic in our procedure rooms.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic and a compassionate nurse with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to help us to deliver outstanding treatment and care to our head and neck patients.

A Registered Nurse who delivers compassionate, professional, skilled and effective person centred, evidence-based nursing care by working within a multidisciplinary team, developing collaborative, needs based care plans through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.

Previous experience with complex wound dressings is desirable, but we can provide training and support for candidates who are keen to learn.

About us

We have 19 Registered Dental Nurses, 2 Staff Nurses, 2 Orthodontic therapists, 1 TNA, 2 Healthcare Assistants and Admin support who work in a friendly but very busy outpatient's department. The oral and maxillofacial surgery and orthodontics department work alongside varies multidisciplinary teams which cover a variety of head and neck procedures.

We also have Specialist trainee registrars and Dental Core Trainees in the department as we have a strong training ethos.

This is a cross-site specialty with all staff required to work at both Cheltenham General Hospital & Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Free transport is provided for trust staff by shuttle-bus between the two sites.
