Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Medical Administrator to join and support the Dermatology admin and clerical team.

This apprenticeship is suitable for anyone with a desire to learn and develop their administration skills with a view to beginning a career in administration and gain a Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship as well as studying specialist AMSPAR medical content.

Main duties of the job

We wish to appoint an efficient and committed Apprentice Medical Administrator to provide administration and secretarial support within the busy department of Dermatology at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who fits with our ethos of continual improvement and delivery of the highest quality patient-centred care.

The successful applicant will receive induction and training appropriate to the activities he or she will undertake, and following this induction period will be enrolled to the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship.The Apprentice will be expected to complete the elements of the apprenticeship within the 18 months' timeframe.

To attend all mandatory components of the Apprenticeship Framework including:- Corporate induction- GHNHSFT mandatory training- Department based vocational assessments- Progress review meetings

Provide an efficient, confidential and friendly service to all patients and visitors in Dermatology outpatients To record patient attendance accurately and timely, in accordance with departmental policy Ensure the professional image of the department and Trust is maintained at all times Good communication with patients, relatives, general practitioners and other hospital staff is essential To ensure a proficient, high-quality service for patients and clinicians.

The Apprentice will be expected to complete the elements of the apprenticeship within the 18 months timeframe. This apprenticeship includes:

Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship standard assessed through end point assessment Knowledge The organisation, values of their skills, stakeholders, relevant regulation, policies, business fundamentals, processes, external environmental factors Skills IT, record and document production, decision making, interpersonal skills, communications, quality, planning and organisation, project management Behaviours Professionalism, personal qualities, managing performance, adaptability, responsibility Functional Skill English and Maths if not previously attained Level 2 equivalent before. ICT Skill Sessions Specialist AMSPAR medical content - Medical Terminology - the meanings of medical terminology relating to medical specialities and the various pharmaceutical abbreviations, Medical Administration - the roles and responsibilities of the medical administrator, Managing Communication in a Medical Environment - administering meetings, understanding oral communication and summarising and presenting data
