CLINICAL FELLOW/TRUST DOCTOR IN CRITICAL CARE MEDICINE
Applications are invited for Clinical Fellows in Critical Care Medicine based with Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS foundation trust commencing 3rd August 2022.
These posts are for 6 or 12 months duration, full time or part time. Anaesthetic experience is desirable but not essential.
While these posts are not educationally approved nor recognised by the Royal College for training purposes, they are educationally sound and well supported. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices, or equivalent, is essential.
Applicants are required to be registered medical practitioners and maintain full registration with the GMC.
Main duties of the job
The job will be based within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust of which the 2 largest hospitals are Gloucester Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals.
This role is an ideal opportunity for those wanting a career in anaesthesia or critical care medicine who may wish to boost their CV prior to training programme interview. GHNHSFT provides an excellent teaching program and has a strong track record in preparing juniors for a successful training rotation application. The critical care department is a busy department within the anaesthetic directorate. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to gain experience in the management of the critically ill patient under the supervision of a team of enthusiastic consultants and nurses. The trust is the three counties centre for vascular, head and neck and upper GI cancer surgeries and as such the critical care department offered experience in the management of complex elective surgical cases, emergency care and care of the critical ill child.

You will be allocated an educational supervisor with regular meetings to tailor your developmental needs. You will be treated the same as the other trainees in the department.
Clinical Fellows will be given the opportunity to attend all mandatory teaching, audit meetings and weekly departmental CPD meetings. There will be professional development opportunities ideal for applicants sitting higher exams or pursuing additional experience for their special interest. There is opportunity to be involved in audits, quality improvement projects, research and teaching including simulation.
This post includes on-call commitment on the critical care department currently 1:8 EWTD compliant.
This post requires Full Registration with GMC. Anaesthetic experience is desirable but not essential.
