Dietetic Assistant Practitioner (Band 4) in the Home Enteral Feeding Team (HEFT).
The Home Enteral Feeding Team, based in the Nutrition and Dietetic Department are offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Dietetic Assistant Practitioner (DAP).
This permanent post would be suitable for someone with a foundation degree/NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in health/social care or a science, with care experience and an interest in nutrition support. The candidate will need to have excellent communication skills, take direction and be a team player.
The candidate will be provided with full training from both Registered Dietitians (RDs) and Enteral Nutrition Nurse Specialists (ENNS) to excel in this role and, for the right candidate opportunities to further their education with the local university.
Main duties of the job
Under the guidance of our clinicians the successful applicant will be upskilled in identifying, monitoring and supporting nutritional treatments for patients experiencing malnutrition. You will also help deliver clinical and educational tasks undertaken by ENNS and will gain some delegated responsibilities from both RDs and ENNS as well as participating in audits, service developments and research projects. You will also support and work alongside the Dietetic Support Workers (DSWs) within the team, under the guidance of a dedicated Team Lead.
We operate a service Monday to Friday between the core hours of 8.30am-4.30pm, and can offer flexible working hours. Due to the nature of this community role, a full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
About us
You will join an award winning, busy, energetic, friendly and growing team of Specialist Dietitians, Enteral Nutrition Nurse Specialists, Dietetic Support Workers, Dietetic Assistant Practitioners and Administration & Clerical staff. You will have the support of both an experienced Team Manager and dedicated Dietitian Training Lead.
The team is based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, but covers a countywide service and sits within a bustling and friendly Nutrition and Dietetic Department. The successful post holder would be based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, but will be mobile for several of your working hours.
The department has excellent mobile computer facilities and we encourage the use of the flexible working system in place.
