In line with our Trust ethos we are seeking to employ two highly motivated trainee ACCPs to join our 'outstanding' Critical Care team within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to join the growing and evolving ACCP team; currently composed of two trainee ACCPs and two experienced and enthusiastic Band 8a ACCPs. There is a clear and well defined career progression pathway.
Dependent upon prior experience, trainees will undertake a two to three year training programme. During this training programme you will complete the FICM aligned University of Warwick modular ACCP Training Programme leading to MSc.
Applicants for this role should be a Registered Nurse, AHP or other registered Healthcare Professional (eligible to undertake Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification) who has extensive experience, at a senior level, of the critical care environment. The completion of the training programme requires a high level of motivation and commitment. Successful applicants will need to demonstrate excellent clinical leadership, problem solving, communication and collaborative working skills
Main duties of the job
Following completion of the training programme you will work as a respected and highly valued member of the critical care team, under supervision from the Critical Care Consultants. Your duties will include: comprehensive patient assessment, requesting and interpreting clinical investigations, the development and deployment of tailored patient management plans and the performance of invasive clinical procedures.
During this training programme you will work in a mainly supernumerary capacity, including working on the medical tier rota as you progress on the training programme. This will include a mixture of day and night shifts.
Upon completion of the training programme (MSc in Advanced Critical Care Practice) and identified competencies individuals must be capable of undertaking the full remit of the role, duties and responsibilities of those of a qualified ACCP, including full participation on the medical tier rota, in line with the Qualified ACCP Job description, a copy of which is appended to the tACCP Job description.
