Job summary
We are seeking a suitably qualified Cardiac Physiologist to join our friendly service. The successful candidate can be a newly qualified Cardiac Physiologist or be due to graduate from the Practitioner Training Programme (PTP) this year.
You will be supported by the team to allow you to become a independent Cardiac Physiologist whom is able to cover a wide berth of Cardiac Investigations whilst gaining access to cath lab, PPCI, complex pacing & device implantation and F.U., Echocardiography, DSE & TOE.
The Cardiology department is particularly forward thinking with 13 Consultant Cardiologists. A wide range of procedures are performed within the department, including the two catheter laboratories (complex device implantation & PCI).
The Trust provides an extensive follow-up service for all devices and includes a well-established remote follow-up service. The remote service has been expanded and developed during the Covid-19 pandemic.The successful candidate will be expected to rotate through Non-Invasive Physiology, CRM & the intervention lab as service demand dictates.
At present the service is co-located between Cheltenham General Hospital & Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with plans presented being incorporated to bring all of Cardiac Services onto one site at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital (within 12 months) & an additional 3rd lab to follow, with a view to delivering EP locally.
Main duties of the job
Under the guidance of the cardiology diagnostic team the post holder will be/become proficient and be able to work unsupervised, providing a quality service for patients requiring non-invasive and invasive cardiology investigative procedures. The post holder will also be responsible for assessing patients' needs whilst undergoing investigative procedures and providing appropriate level of care required. You will have the opportunity to learn and work in the Cath-lab and Pacing.
You will be supported by the team to allow you to become a independent Cardiac Physiologist whom is able to cover a wide berth of Cardiac Investigations whilst gaining access to cath lab, PPCI, complex pacing & device implantation and F.U., Echocardiography, DSE & TOE.
The post-holder is expected to be a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual, using their experience and knowledge to provide a highly professional standard of care. The successful candidate will have BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent and be expected to have a level of skill and autonomy appropriate to the Band 5 level.
Independent, or working towards, invasive technical expertise will be desired during diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab cases, including acquisition of haemodynamic data for left and right heart studies, PCI, PPCI and IABP set up and monitoring.
At present the department does offer a seven day PPC. You will gain confidence and highly transferable skills and knowledge for your future career.

The Cardiology Investigation Department has a team of approximately 30 Cardiac Physiologists, Cardiographers and administrative staff. You would be working as a central resource and become an integral member of the team.
This role will be for a full time (37.5 hours per week) in the Cardiology Department based across county, working at CGH & GRH.

They will be expected to interpret and act upon results of tests, investigations and measurements in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Job purpose
The post holder will have the opportunity to develop skills in all areas of non-invasive and invasive Cardiology (ECG, ambulatory monitoring and reporting, Physiologist led Exercise Tolerance Test and Adenosine studies) as well as exposure and rotation through the following areas of; Echocardiography, Pacemaker Follow-ups and Angio / PCI.
Rotation around a broad range of technical areas will be necessary to obtain competencies within the department and for state registration.
To competently perform resting ECGs on adults and paediatric out-patients and in-patients.
To competently analyse basic ECGs on adults and paediatric patients.
To competently perform ambulatory ECG (24, 48, 72, 7-day tests) and BP recordings.
To review and prioritise inpatient requests for cardiac investigations within ECG, ambulatory monitoring, exercise testing.
Knowledge and skills
Provide and receive complex technical information and interpret results for the care of cardiology patients and is a source of expert advice to patients, relatives and other healthcare professionals.
Clinical supervision of students and junior trained staff within the teamWork unsupervised and to follow professional guidelines and protocols within the department

Input data into computerised systems and maintains patients records to ensure accuracy
