About us
Acute hospital paediatric services are provided at GRH and Paediatric out patient services at CGH, GRH and in peripheral outreach clinics around the county. Our local neonatal unit is based in GRH alongside the central delivery suite; in addition, there are also two MLBUs based in Cheltenham and Stroud.
Our neonatal team currently consists of 6 consultants. We are supported by 2 Consultant nurses, ANNPs and junior doctors.
The acute general paediatric team consists of 13 consultants with a variety of subspecialty interests whereas the community paediatric medical team consists of 7consultants in addition to specialist doctors and a staff grade as well as numerous specialist nurses.
The ethos of the whole paediatric department is very much one of wanting to continually improve to ensure we provide the best care possible for children and families. Our recent paediatric strategy (2021- 2026) outlines our aim to deliver excellence in care for our patients and families as evidenced by our outcomes, patient experience and the values we embody. Key priority areas in achieving this are 'care without boundaries' (developing our multi-disciplinary/multi-agency working within the integrated care services) and investing in the wellbeing and professional development of our team. As such, this is an exciting time to join the team, with varied opportunities to be part of creating new pathways, championing the needs of children and young people and provide the best care for everyone.
Job description
Job responsibilities
Please see full job description attached.
Our paediatric services across two sites merged a number of years ago, to enable single consultant continuity for most patients that access our service. This allows a close working together between the different teams, with access to specialty opinions and investigations. The whole department has a strong educational ethos and we would welcome those with a desire to participate in education and research.
The postholder is expected to participate in neonatal service weeks as well as consultant on call rota, covering neonates. They are also expected to undertake general paediatric and audiology clinics as well as the follow up of babies discharged from the neonatal unit as required.
The post does not require working on the acute paediatric ward or the general paediatric consultant on call rota.
