Job summary

We have 52.5 hours available for Band 6 Midwives to join our team in the Antenatal Clinics & Maternity Assessment Centres in Cheltenham & Gloucester.

The Antenatal Clinics provide care to ladies with complex pregnancies & those requiring extra monitoring. Our team of Midwives & Maternity Care Assistants work closely with Obstetricians to prepare & coordinate clinics for ladies with a variety of complexities including maternal medical conditions, multiple pregnancies, mental health concerns & obesity.

Antenatal Clinic is a great learning environment to increase knowledge of how complexities affect a pregnancy and how care is planned to improve outcomes.

We need Midwives who are passionate about Antenatal care, are motivated, dynamic, with a keen eye for detail & want to help us develop and improve the service we offer.

You would need to be able to work at both Cheltenham and Gloucester hospitals. Shifts are predominately Monday to Friday, 8.30am-4.30pm.

Main duties of the job

Midwives in the Antenatal Clinics undertake varied roles. These include:

- Coordinating the running of antenatal clinics.

- Providing antenatal care and midwifery advice

- Working in the Maternity Assessment Centre, providing unscheduled care.

- Liaising with other teams including Diabetes, Anaesthetics and Fetal Medicine, to plan care.

- Communicating & supporting ladies and their families, potentially in emotional circumstances and with difficult decision making

- Undertaking Carbon Monoxide Screening and providing smoking cessation advice.

- Administering Flu vaccination

- Supervising a team of Maternity Care Assistants and supporting them in their roles.

- Preparing notes, filing paperwork, completing forms.

- Documentation on paper and computer systems

The Antenatal Clinic team comprises of Midwives, Maternity Care Assistants and clerical support staff.

We are a hard working but supportive team of staff who enjoy working and socialising together.

We aim to provide high standards of care for pregnant ladies in Gloucestershire.

We staff both Cheltenham and Gloucester clinics, and you would need to be able to work in both locations.

Experience
