Job summary
Trust Doctors at FY2/STI-2 level are required to work within the Medical Divsion at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital.
These posts offer excellent experience in all aspects of general medicine including looking after pateints with a wide range of medical problems including : Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Respiratory Medicine, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Care of the Elderly and Stroke.
These posts are very suitable for junior doctors who have completed foundation training and are considering or have already been taking a career break (e.g. to go travelling) before joining a formal specialist training programme
Main duties of the job
The postholder will be based on one of our medical wards that may also include winter escalation areas in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital or Cheltenham General Hospital. They will be expected to attend board rounds, support on consultant ward rounds, aid in the progression of patient care and discharge as well as seeing patients independently. In order to provide sufficient cover for sickness, leave and general medicine out of hours worked by the junior doctors in substantive training posts, the post-holder may need work on different wards within the medicine department.

There is an active Post Graduate Medical Centre at both Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital with excellent library and skills facilities on both sites.
Post sub-specialty departments run their own weekly dedicated teaching programme. In the Medical Directorate there is a weekly Grand Round with lunch provided.

Essential
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification. Completion of F1/F2 years.
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment.
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice including:

- Previous experience of working in a relevant medical specialty
