Job summary

Lead our forward-thinking and innovative Radiology team in Gloucestershire - as the RADIOLOGY SERVICES MANAGER.

Main duties of the job

As the Radiology Services Manager;

You will be responsible for all aspects of the operational management of the Radiology service, providing professional support and leadership to the wider team. Working in partnership with the Radiology Specialty Director you will be charged with delivering an exciting vision for Radiology, shaping services and a workforce that will drive forward our commitment to outstanding care.

About us

We are one of the largest Radiology services in the Southwest, with a full range of modalities, delivering a comprehensive 24/7 service to our patients, out of two acute Trust hospital sites and eight community hospitals.

We have recently commenced a significant equipment replacement and development programme which will strengthen our cross-sectional and interventional imaging services. We are also committed to staff development, with a well-developed 4-tier radiographer structure, in-house training schemes and close working arrangements with our under-graduate provider, the University of Gloucestershire.

Job responsibilities

Responsible with the Service Line Quartet for the operational management and strategic planning of the Radiology Service Line, accountable to the Divisional Quartet.

Responsible for clinical governance ensuring a safe and effective service for patients and staff.

Responsible for the delivery of service performance indicators and national targets.

Responsible for service development and innovation responding to National agenda, Trust, CCG and professional drivers.

Work with AHP leads to actively raise the profile of AHPs across the Trust, driving forward service improvements and increasing the profile of their work.

Provide expertise and advice on all imaging modalities, with an up to date knowledge of all types of imaging equipment.

Represent the organisation at system, regional and national level with regards Radiology services.

Provide Professional advice to expertise to all Health and Social care professionals and agencies to support the health and wellbeing of the population by the use of the most appropriate Radiology service.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Graduate qualification in Radiography
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Relevant postgraduate education to Master's level
  • Management training at post graduate level or the equivalent experience gained through a management role for a minimum of 5 years
  • In depth knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. Health and Safety, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), Ionising Radiation and Medical Exposures Regulation (IRMER
  • Proven, relevant clinical experience
  • Project management experience of capital schemes involving both equipment and buildings. Knowledge of appropriate capital scheme guidance such as Hospital Building Notes
  • Information technology-literate in MS Office and Internet-based applications; understanding of and experience in application of IT to support clinical practice
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience of working in the NHS in a management post, with experience of managing complex services, including exposure to solving a range of operational and strategic problems
