GLOUCESTERSHIRE HOSPITALS NHS FOUNDATION TRUST
SPECIALTY DOCTOR in ONCOLOGY This post is a new appointment based in the oncology department in Cheltenham General Hospital from December 2021 initially for 6 months.
The successful candidate will join a committed and supportive team looking after oncology patients. The post will involve reviewing patients receiving radiotherapy and systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) for 2 PAs every Tuesday - appropriate training will be provided to undertake SACT assessment and prescribing.
Main duties of the job
This post is ideally suited to a candidate with an interest in Oncology, post Foundation training:
- Experience will be gained in the management of common malignancies, including chemotherapy assessment. There will also be opportunities to be gain experience in radiotherapy.
- Depending on the interests of the successful applicant, support will be given to pursue an interest in Medical Education or Quality Improvement Projects. The department has a good record of such projects being successful with presentations or posters nationally.
- The post holder will join a highly supportive team, including Specialty Doctors, Specialist Registrars, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Allied Health Professionals, Managers and Consultants.
- There is an active clinical research programme, with opportunities to be involved with trial recruitment.
Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements:-
- To support the provision of a first class clinical service
- To undertake all work in accordance with the Trusts procedures and operating policies
- To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trusts and Divisions services plans
