Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, dynamic and flexible individual to join our team as the Admissions & Orthotics Lead Co-ordinator for Trauma & Orthopaedics within the Surgical Division.

This dual role will support the General Management team to deliver Trust and divisional objectives e.g. Referral to Treatment & clinic/theatre utilisation targets.

You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the admissions process within the Trauma & Orthopaedic specialty based at Cheltenham General Hospital and to oversee the smooth running of the Orthotics service.

This role will be based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will have experience of supervising teams, service improvement and meeting targets and deadlines. You will need strong planning and organisation skills and be able to prioritise your own workload as well as your teams priorities.

You will have excellent communication skills, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

You will manage information in relation to the patient pathways, ensuring targets, including 18 weeks and diagnostic targets are achieved and maintained.

About us

Trauma & Orthopaedics is a large specialty with 28 Consultant Surgeons who between them operate on emergency (Trauma) and elective (Orthopaedic) patients at Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals.

The specialty of Orthotics also sits within Trauma & Orthopaedics. This is a small team consisting of two Orthotists, a supervisor and two administrative clerks.

The successful candidate will join a highly-motivated, hard-working and committed management team who oversee the day-to-day running of the service. We are looking for an individual who is able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Educated to Degree level, or evidence of substantial experience within an Administrative post in the NHS.
  • Health and Social Care Management Certificate, BTEC Management qualification or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience of working as a team leader or supervisor in a large complex healthcare organisation.
  • Keyboard skills equivalent to RSA III, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
