About us

Care of the Elderly cover the biggest bed base in the Trust covering approximately 220 beds over two sites including Stroke Care. Our specialty is one of the few that is growing and our influence and expertise is in high demand to meet the rising numbers of octo and nonagenarians, those living with frailty or complex co-morbidities in our communities.

COTE Medicine is truly MDT focussed; our work is entwined with that of our therapists, dieticians and Onward Care Team colleagues. We work collaboratively with other specialties to deliver patient centred individualised care.

Our Frailty Assessment Service and Homeward Assessment Team deliver care to older people in the Emergency Department and AMU. We focus on identifying barriers to discharge whilst performing a comprehensive geriatric assessment to avoid admission where appropriate, creating strong links with community based services.
