Job summary

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and committed individual to join our well established and progressive Urology team at the Freeman Hospital. This post will support the delivery of high-quality Urology services, including outpatient clinics, diagnostics supporting our spoke services.

You must hold MBBS or an equivalent medical qualification and be fully registered with the GMC. A minimum of 24 months' experience in Urology or a closely related surgical specialty is essential. Previous experience in emergency urology, ward-based care, cystoscopy or theatre work would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

This role is an excellent opportunity for dedicated and enthusiastic individuals committed to developing their expertise in Urology. The post holder will work closely with the Consultant Urology team, specialist nurses, and wider multidisciplinary teams to support the delivery of high-quality care across elective and diagnostic Urology services.

The specialist role includes involvement in outpatient assessment, diagnostics (including flexible cystoscopy where appropriate). The post offers exposure to a broad range of Urological subspecialties including stone disease, endourology and functional urology. Opportunities exist to develop operative skills and to contribute to service development, audit, research, and quality improvement.

Clinical:

Under the supervision of the Consultant Urology team, the post holder will participate in:

Assessment, triage and management of routine, urgent and cancer referrals.

Diagnostic procedures such as flexible cystoscopy.

Outpatient clinics for general and subspecialty Urology.

Coordinating care of patients with complex Urological needs, including those requiring MDT input.

Administrative:

Ensure accurate, timely documentation in patient records, clinic and advice and guidance letters in accordance with Trust and Departmental standards.

Contribute to the organisation of outpatient clinics, MDT preparation and daytoday coordination of the Urology service.

Participate in departmental meetings, governance activities and reporting of quality and safety data.

Assist in maintaining and improving patient flow across outpatient, elective across Urology pathways.

Abide by Trust policies, clinical guidelines, and service improvement initiatives within the Urology Directorate.

Comply with Trust policies and clinical protocols while contributing to the delivery and advancement of service improvement initiatives within the Urology Directorate.

Research:
