Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and innovative Band 7 Physiotherapist to work on a temporary part time basis in the regional Hands Burns and Plastics unit and Orthopaedic hand and wrist service as part of maternity leave cover. The unit covers a wide geographical area and has a variety of specialties including hands; acute traumatic injuries and elective procedures, plastic reconstructive surgery; traumatic upper and lower limb cases, elective reconstructive surgery; breast, facial, lower limb, skin cancer, sarcoma and the regional burns service. Orthopaedic; referrals from Fracture Clinic, acute orthopaedic wards and elective procedures.The role delivers high-quality physiotherapy care in various settings; outpatients including therapy-led hand trauma clinics, dressings, consultant and multidisciplinary clinics, rehabilitation unit within the physiotherapy department, hydrotherapy. It also involves working in the inpatient setting; participating in the trauma ward round and supporting the team on the wards, working closely with the multidisciplinary team. CPD is provided within job planned time, and support through peer supervision from the Team Leads.

Main duties of the job

The role involves delivering advanced assessments, developing and implementing individualised treatment plans and promoting optimal recovery and functional independence. As part of the regional specialty service, you will offer a person-centred approach working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive evidence-based care.Performing advanced assessments, developing tailored rehabilitation programmes and utilising specialised techniques such as splinting, scar management and manual therapy to enhance recovery.

To be responsible for own continued professional development.

Following a period of in-house assessment, induction and training (as appropriate) to be part of the weekend cover.

  • oHighly specialist knowledge of the physiotherapy process and its application with the client group in the speciality
