This post is designed to strengthen both the trauma and elective services, delivered across the RVI and Freeman hospitals. The successful candidate will join a team of 14 Consultants providing comprehensive orthopaedic trauma services at the Major Trauma Centre, at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, and will also have elective foot and ankle sessions at the Freeman Hospital. The Freeman Hospital provides a regional, specialist foot and ankle service, with access to it's own gait analysis laboratory.

The successful candidate will join the existing orthopaedic trauma on-call rota at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. This will involve making up a team of four Consultants, each doing one on-call weekday (during which the team fracture clinics take place) every four weeks, followed by an all-day trauma list on the following day. In addition, the successful candidate will be on-call for orthopaedic trauma one weekend in 14.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a special interest in the use of circular frames within the field of orthopaedic trauma, to complement the existing surgeons within the team.
The successful candidate will be required to provide an elective foot and ankle surgery service at Freeman Hospital.

- Primary Medical Qualification.
- Full GMC Registration.
- FRCS (Orth) or equivalent.
Desirable
- Special skills training in the specialty.
Clinical Experience

- Evidence of experience in the specialty, and a substantial commitment to the specialty.
- Ability to offer an expert clinical opinion within the speciality.
- Ability to take independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients referred to a tertiary centre.
- At least a six months Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship (post CCT) in an UK Major Trauma Centre (or equivalent abroad) including ring fixation.
- At least six months Fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery.
