Job summary
An opportunity has arisen within the Catering Department at The Freeman Hospital for a Full Time Assistant Storekeeper to work as a part of our team working in the Freeman Catering Department issuing products to kitchen and ward staff and delivering goods to the units around the Trust , as a part of the team you will also be responsible for the cleanliness of the department in line with food hygiene regulations and trust policies.
Working - Monday to Friday 07.00 to 15.00

Main duties of the job
- Checking of good when they come in from the deliveries.
- Rotating stock with in the store
- Checking Stock levels of good with in the stores.
- Security of stores.
- working with along side main stores staff.
- Reducing wastage.
- Issuing special diet feeds to wards
- Issuing goods to kitchen staff and ward staff.
- Using departments ordering and booking in system.
- Ensuring products are in for the kitchen on that day.
- Taking goods to other catering outlets around the Trust.
- Informing chefs and management of any product changes including allergens.
- General cleaning duties within the Stores.
- Working in different areas of the department when required.
- At all times following food hygiene and trust policy regulations.
- Taking over from Head Storekeeper when they are off.

- Responsible for assisting in the efficient and effective operation and service of the food stores to the kitchen and ward staff and other catering outlet, taken responsibility when head storekeeper is off and associated cleaning and hygiene related duties.
Job Purpose
- Responsible for the efficient operation of the catering stores.
- The monitoring, ordering and stock rotation of all goods held within catering stores.
- The issue and delivery of goods to other departments and sites and the hygienic maintenance of the catering stores area.
Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate.The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first months pay.
