Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and innovative Band 7 Physiotherapist to work on a permanent basis within the Neurosciences team. This new role will be split across inpatients and outpatients and will have Team Lead responsibilities.
The Neuro Outpatients service is based at the Freeman and Cresta clinic. You will lead on delivering a highly specialist neuro physiotherapy service to a varying outpatient caseload. You will be responsible for the overall delivery, improvement and development of this service.
You will work as part of a specialist multi-disciplinary team that treats a variety of elective and emergency brain and spinal cord injuries. This is a varied and complex caseload and you will be expected to be a key leader supporting the overall management of these patients. The successful candidate will need to have extensive acute neurosurgical clinical experience to competently manage this patient group.

Main duties of the job
- To provide a high standard of physiotherapy care to a highly complex patient group in the specialty, performing advanced assessments, developing tailored rehabilitation programmes and utilising specialised techniques.
- To provide physiotherapy input for patients as in-patients, and in outpatient clinics.
- To provide an advisory service to patients, their families, physiotherapists, consultants, nursing staff and other health care professionals in tertiary and secondary care, both locally and regionally.
- To develop and provide specialist education and training to nursing, medical and physiotherapy staff and any other members of the MDT to optimise each patient's outcome and invest in the learning and development of people.
- To be responsible for own continued professional development.

There are existing peer support networks within the wider neurosciences team and the post-holder will be fully supported to integrate into these established physiotherapy teams and roles. Neuro-outpatients and spinal inpatients are both evolving services and the post-holder will be expected to lead in service improvement; it is therefore expected that the post-holder will have real-life experience of service improvement and leadership in action.
