An exciting opportunity has arisen to work jointly across the acute and diabetes services at Newcastle Upon Tynes Hospital NHS Trust. This temporary, part-time post will be based at the Freeman Hospital and will include:
- Cover to the vascular wards
- Participation with the vascular and diabetes MDTs
- Dietetic input to the diabetes foot clinic with the aim to maximise wound healing and minimise complications
This role will expose the successful applicant to a broad range of specialists, including podiatrists, specialist nurses, consultant vascular surgeons and endocrinologists.
We are looking for a person with an interest and/or experience in the areas of diabetes, nutrition support and tissue viability. This post will sit within well established teams and will be supported by specialist dietitians and the associated MDTs. We are eager to evaluate the outcomes of the preventative element of this role and the post holder will be mentored in the gathering and evaluation of data collected throughout the timeframe of the post.This is a part-time post and how the working hours are spread across the week can be negotiated, however, Mondays and Fridays would be essential working days. Agile working is supported by the issue of mobile kit (laptop).

Main duties of the job
You should be enthusiastic and self-motivated and will:
- Work with the vascular and diabetes teams, to help oversee a caseload of inpatients, outpatients and MDT meetings
- Have experience in nutrition support and an interest in diabetes and tissue viability
- Have excellent communication and organizational skills given the split of caseload across two teams
- Be able to demonstrate ongoing CPD
- Be able to maintain good relationships with colleagues and wider MDT
The post holder will be required to:
- Deliver a high-quality dietetic service in line with trust values
- Contribute to effective team working and attend team meetings
- Take part in student training and supervision
- Contribute to gathering outcome data and service evaluation

The successful candidate will be required to supervise students and support the organisation and delivery of student training placements. The role will be supported by a job plan; we actively encourage staff development as well as research / audit and continuing professional development opportunities.

- Provides specialist dietetic assessment, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and management in the clinical setting and in one or more sub-specialty areas. This may include supplementary prescribing
