Main duties of the job

The role of our nursing team is wide-ranging. They are at the forefront of our patient centred service, supporting patients and their relatives throughout their time in the department and take an active role in carrying out our varied clinical investigations. Supported by the rest of the team, nurses lead and direct our infection control, health and safety and patient experience strategies..

In addition to these general duties, our nurses lead pharmaceutical stress testing sessions for patients undergoing myocardial perfusion studies. Under close monitoring, the pharmaceutical allows us to mimic conditions which might induce ischaemia in patients suffering from shortness of breath and chest pains. A radiopharmaceutical is then administered allowing us to generate functional images of heart under these extreme conditions

You will join an experienced and knowledgeable Radiology Nursing team who work across site between the Freeman Hospital and Royal Victoria Infirmary Interventional Radiology Departments.

o Health Innovation Neighbourhood (on the former Newcastle General Hospital and Centre for Ageing and Vitality site)

o Newcastle Dental Hospital

o Newcastle Fertility Centre

o Northern Centre for Cancer Care, North Cumbria

o Northern Genetics Service

o Cramlington Manor Walks
