Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Urology/oncology Nurse Specialist to work as part of our specialist prostate cancer team as a band 6 temporary post at 30 hours per week until 19 January 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to work as a nurse specialist in a dynamic team where the emphasis is to provide high quality , innovative patient care

You will be highly motivated and an experienced nurse ideally with Urology / oncology background.

You will be part of a dedicated team of professional nurses and will be required to support in all aspects of the patient pathway both pre and post diagnosis.

The role of the Uro oncology Nurse Specialist encompasses the covering / supporting of consultant clinics, conducting Nurse led clinics, providing clinical assessment, referral for diagnostic investigations, symptom advice, care and support. The nurse specialist will also be responsible for ensuring the service meets the appropriate milestones on the diagnostic and treatment pathway.

The role of nurse specialist in supporting patients and their carers through their cancer journey is vital so excellent communication skills are essential

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing development of the Uro oncology nursing team and support colleagues in the delivery of a consistently high quality patient centred care, recognising opportunities to develop and enhance the care provided to kidney/testicular cancer patients

Supporting patients through all stages of their cancer pathway from referral into the service to treatment and long term follow up.

There is a need to understand the key milestones in the pathway ensuring patients are given access to timely treatment in line with national and local guidance

Contribute to the development of nurse led patient care to improve outcomes for patients
