Job summary

The Ear, Nose and Throat Department at the Freeman Hospital has a permanent, full-time vacancy for a reliable, motivated, conscientious, patient-centred Outpatient Clerk Receptionist. The Department provides a comprehensive range of emergency and non-emergency services for both children and adults, including general ENT services, Casualty clinics, Audiology, Speech and Language Therapy, and Head and Neck Tumour Group.

Main duties of the job

The role involves greeting and checking in/out patients, fielding enquiries in person and over the telephone, making appointments, updating patient records, and preparation of paperwork both for, and after clinic.

You should be able to integrate well with the existing team, be flexible in supporting the functions of the Department and have a genuine desire to contribute to providing a quality service for patients.

  • NVQ Level 2 in appropriate subject (or on pathway) or equivalent qualification / experience

Knowledge & Experience

  • Maintain and improve knowledge, skills and competence to ensure high standard of outpatients service
  • Required to undertake training in all aspects of the outpatients functions including IT systems, outpatients processes and information governance, either during probationary period or as defined

Desirable

  • Previous reception/clerical experience
  • Previous customer care experience

  • IT skills in windows based applications
