Job summary
We are looking for a newly or recently qualified Speech & Language Therapist with an interest in adults with acquired communication and swallowing problems. The work is with in-patients; stroke rehabilitation and other specialist areas at the Freeman Hospital and possibly RVI & Community as required.
Our candidate will enjoy team work and a varied and challenging caseload.
You will be well supported through induction and on-going professional development by an expert and friendly team. Dysphagia competency development will be a priority.

Main duties of the job
- To manage a caseload of adults in the in-patient setting
- To assess communication and swallowing problems
- To set up care plans for patients with communication and / or swallowing problems.

- To work alongside more experienced Speech & Language Therapists in providing a specialised service to patients with acquired neurological communication and swallowing problems at the Freeman.
Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate.The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first months pay.
