Job summary
A qualification in administering chemotherapy or evidence of working towards this is desirable. Ward 35 regularly administers chemotherapy to both inpatient and day case patients and knowledge and skills in Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) or the various chemotherapy regimens would therefore be beneficial.
As a Band 6, you will be a clinical expert ensuring treatment is delivered in a highly professional, safe and holistic manner, whilst also supporting staff in their training and development. You will need to be highly motivated and able to demonstrate excellent clinical and interpersonal skills.

Main duties of the job
Ward 35 is a 26 bedded Oncology/Haematology ward within the Northern Centre for Cancer Care and delivers a variety of treatments to both inpatient and day case patients. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Sister to join the team.
Ward 35 specialises in the care of both Oncology and Haematology patients.
The ward also sees patients with a variety of conditions such as Iodine 131, Brachytherapy and patients requiring radiotherapy, nutritional support or symptom control so the suitable individual would benefit from having experience within this setting.
Applicants applying for this post should be dynamic and forward thinking. We are looking for an innovative nurse keen to develop their managerial skills with the ability to problem solve, and demonstrate leadership.
You will work closely with the both the Senior Sister and Band 6 Sisters and be able to support them in the safe running of the ward. We are looking for someone who is an excellent team player who has a positive approach/outlook to work.
It is essential that the candidate sets high standards in their care delivery and represent themselves as a role model for both the team and Trust.

- In areas within the organisation Nurses / ODPs may be banded at 6 by virtue clinical reasons, for example, critical care.
- Provide effective support and leadership to both staff, patients and carers within the Theatre or Department.
- Act as role model, teacher and supervisor for junior staff and students.
- Ensure systems are in place to provide the continuity of safe effective care for patients at all times.
- Effective member of the multi-disciplinary team
- May be required to participate in an On-call rota as required.
