Assessment Suite/Same Day Emergency Care

Clerical Officer

Grade: Band 2

Hours: 37.5 (to include bank holidays) this is a 6 week rota shift pattern which does incorporates a week of nightshifts

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Assessment Suite (AS)/Same day Emergency care (SDEC based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and a reliable individual to join our very busy team. You will be required to provide administrative support within the main AS and SDEC. Excellent inter-personal and organisational skills are essential as you will be first point of contact for patients, staff and visitors.

Main duties of the job

Duties include patient registration via the units electronic systems, admission of patients via hospital system, Making appointment's on schapptbook, filing, photocopying, telephone enquiries, processing of daily documentation, as well as face to face enquires from the general public, patients, visitors and staff.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and processing skills. You will be required to work within a large multi-disciplinary team and be capable of undertaking a demanding workload. You should be familiar and confident with Microsoft office packages, and experience of working within the NHS would be advantageous. Knowledge of e-Record and Case Note Tracking would be desirable. Full training will be given.

Job Purpose

  • The provision of an efficient administration service within the Assessment Unit and Ambulatory Care Unit.
  • To work as part of Admin Team to provide effective service for both Inpatient and Outpatient Departments within Assessment Suite and Ambulatory Care Unit.
  • The efficient running of unit reception areas and greeting of visitors and patients at the front line.
