Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic Technologist or Radiographer to join our mould room team.
This post is for a Band 5 with a training period of between 6 to 18 months towards a Band 6 post in both Mould Room and Brachytherapy. This is in the form of a comprehensive competency training pack for both services.
As a Clinical Technologist, you will be responsible for creating immobilisation devices for patients undergoing radiotherapy.
You will work closely within a small team of technologists to meet the needs of service users, while ensuring high-quality patient care.
Working closely with patients in a clinical setting, the job role will give you the opportunity to provide support and care from the onset of their treatment. You will also develop skills that will enable you to offer technical support for ensuring patients have the highest degree of care.
This exciting position is provided with comprehensive competency training to help you develop a range of skills to be considered an expert in this speciality.

Main duties of the job
- Providing support for radiotherapy service by preparing and maintaining immobilization devices for patients
- Manufacturing both standard and custom immobilization devices to ensure precise patient positioning for their radiotherapy treatment
- Completing documentation and traceability for all mould room devices
- Work effectively as a team member to problem solve patient positioning
- Quality control and detail of all devices
- Working within departmental quality control, policies and procedures
- Provide accurate information both orally and written
- Working in a small team of brachytherapy specialists to deliver High Dose radiation to patients
- Handling specialist equipment for complex brachytherapy procedures
- Carrying out Quality control procedures of manufacturer's equipment
- Identifying and reporting equipment not fit for service
- Ensure trust standards on infection control are followed
- Participate in developments of new technologies and treatment techniques

The job role is multifaceted and additionally you will support the brachytherapy service in delivering a specialized treatment, carrying out brachytherapy procedures for primarily endometrial and cervical cancers.
Working closely together in a wider MDT setting such as attending theatre sessions, you will offer a professional and high level of service and expertise in a sensitive field. Working with radioactive sources you will work as a practitioner for concomitant exposures under IR(ME)R with regard to gynaecolgical treatments, adhering to strict policies and procedures.

- oPost Graduate Diploma or equivalent experience
- oThe post-holder is expected to be on the HCPC register or the register of Clinical Technologists (RCT) or working towards qualification
