Job summary

The post holder will work as part of as part of a team of administration and clerical staff supporting the Urgent Treatment Centres across Newcastle.

The Administration and Clerical staff within these services work between 8am and 10pm on a rota basis including evening, weekends and bank holidays.

Actual working hours of this post to be discussed at interview.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside other clerical staff to evaluate and prioritise workload in a busy environment and respond to the constantly changing needs of the service users in line with local and national targets. They will also provide a high standard of administrative support to clinical staff handling telephone calls, using electronic health record SystmOne and receiving requests from patients, carers and service users as well as professionals.

Job responsibilities

  • To provide a high standard of support to Clinical staff handling telephone calls.
  • To use an electronic referral process (SystmOne) to ensure requests are responded to in a professional, confidential and efficient manner.
  • To receive requests from patients and carers, acute hospitals, GP practices, Social Services and health care agencies.
  • To communicate directly with members of the public and other services.
  • To abide by Trust policies and procedures
  • To be an effective part of the team contributing to the departmental objectives.
  • Post holder will be expected to contribute to housekeeping and other office duties as required e.g. general tidiness, pre-determined stock levels are met and equipment is clean, and stored correctly.

Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate.The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first months pay.
