Job summary
The Imaging Physics and Radiation Safety unit of the Northern Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering directorate is recruiting for a recently qualified clinical scientist with specialist knowledge and experience in radiation safety who can thrive in the challenges of delivering multiple services to a number of customers.
We are seeking a motivated individual who will be able to provide support to certificated Radiation Protection Advisers and Medical Physics Experts within the group and contribute to a range of radiation safety and diagnostic radiology services.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing team and play a key role in service delivery to users of ionising and non-ionising radiation.
Working within a large regional service, you will be exposed to a wide variety of work enabling continual self-development. You also will be given the opportunity for formal training via participation on internal and external courses, and to work towards Expert certification.
We provide a range of scientific and advisory services to over 50 hospitals and other clients in the north of England, covering an area of approximately 14,000 square kilometres. You will become part of a friendly and supportive group of people, with plenty of social opportunities, and a chance to experience Geordie hospitality all year round.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of radiation safety advice and associated technical services under the direction of the Radiation, laser and UV Safety advisors. You will also contribute to the department's extensive teaching programme, which includes the delivery of the educational component of the Newcastle Modernising Scientific Careers Scientific Training Programme in Medical Physics. The post involves travel to other hospitals across the region where services are delivered, so a current full driving licence and a willingness to drive is essential.

- Appropriate post-graduate degree at master's level, or equivalent level of specialist knowledge and experience
