Job summary

We are looking for enthusiastic and adaptable Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (Health Visiting) to join our award winning, caring, and progressive Health Visiting Service.

We are nationally recognised for our creative and forward-thinking approach in supporting our communities, this includes working closely with our partners in the Community Family Hubs, Children's Social Care and local GP services.

We are proud to be the first '0-19 Service of Sanctuary', which aligns to Newcastle 'City of Sanctuary' status. We are able to offer specific opportunity within the service to enable you to expand your knowledge and skills working with those families who are living with increased complexity and vulnerability.

We have developed a robust Single Point of Access for the 0-19 service and are able to offer the opportunity to work either in caseload or on the single Point of Access.

We actively support staff to develop their leadership skills and encourage staff to set their own personal development plan. Whether Advanced practice or Leadership is your goal we can offer support to achieve your career aims.

We would welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified Health Visitors as well as those who are due to qualify in the coming months. For all newly qualified Health Visitors you will be supported by a robust 6-month preceptorship programme.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will be part of a highly motivated and skilled workforce, supporting the implementation of the Healthy Child Program to contribute to the provision and delivery of a high quality Health Visiting Service.

The post holders will be expected to be innovative, adaptable and motivated with a strong approach to team work and lead within an evidence-based Child and Family centred public health service that focuses on early intervention and prevention, assessing health needs and vulnerability within the family and community. This will involve working in partnership with carers/parents and young people as well as multi-agency working and participation in Early Help pathway and safeguarding policies and procedures. The applicant will require resilience and resourcefulness and in return will feel great job satisfaction in making a real difference.

A key priority for the service is an integrated approach to demonstrate positive health outcomes for children and families residing in the City of Newcastle upon Tyne. We are excited to be key stakeholders in the "Collaborative Newcastle" initiative, including the Children and Families Newcastle model.

If improving outcomes for children and families, and working in a supportive environment interests you, we look forward to receiving your application.
