Competitive Salary - Very Senior Manager (VSM)

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the top five providers of specialist care in the UK, supporting people with a range of rare and complex medical, surgical and neurological conditions, cancers and genetic orders. We have over 2 million patient contacts each year in our main hospitals, making us one of the biggest providers of specialist care in the UK, and we serve people from across the whole of the North-East, North Cumbria and beyond. We are continuing our journey for system's plans for greater collaboration and development to enhance and improve clinical pathways resulting in better patient experience and outcomes through our strategic alliance and partnerships with the Great North Healthcare Alliance (GNHA).

We form a key part of one of Europe's leading centres for research and innovation in partnership with Newcastle University and the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, and through our work with the National Institute of Health Research. We are a core member of Health Innovation Northeast and North Cumbria (HI NENC), formerly known as the NENC Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) and Northern Health Science Alliance (NHSA), and we continue to attract major awards and commercial opportunities to the Northeast.

Main duties of the job

We acknowledge that we are living in very challenging times and our Trust has much work to do to improve our performance and improve services. We have made a significant start by responding to the findings of the CQC inspection. However, these are also exciting times as we begin to put in place plans for our future estate and facilities for our hospitals and services to support high quality services for our patients and staff. To support this vision the successful candidate will be responsible for leading on the development and implementation of the strategic elements of the Big Build business case in partnership with clinical, operational, finance and other key stakeholders, both internally and externally.

Further the postholder will be responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and future-ready buildings that support patient care and staff wellbeing. This pivotal role offers the chance to shape the Trust's infrastructure and play a key role in strategic developments, including our Big Build strategy.

We are looking for a strategic thinker who is at ease to act as a spokesperson and ambassador for the Trust at various levels, build strong relationships with regulatory bodies, and foster a collaborative, values-driven culture within the Estates & Facilities team and across the Trust. This also includes the ability to lead, develop and foster strategic partnerships to work collaborative for the good our system.
