Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fire Safety Professional, who is motivated and enthusiastic, to work as part of the Fire Safety Team within the Estates Directorate of the Trust supporting the effective management of fire safety, delivering fire safety training and fire safety advice across the organisation.

The post holder will support the Head of Fire Safety in ensuring that all staff are aware of the Trust fire safety policies and procedures and that they are understood and implemented across the organisation. The post holder will also undertake audits and fire risk assessments on a regular basis to ensure all risks are suitably identified and managed.

This role attracts an RRP allowance of 10%.

Main duties of the job

The individual will be responsible for ensuring that suitable fire safety training is delivered to all Trust employees to include fire evacuation training, fire warden training and evacuation chair training.

Organise and undertake fire safety audits and fire risk assessments across Trust sites and to monitor progress on the implementation of agreed action plans including those of third parties.

The successful candidate should:

  • Be an experienced fire safety professional.
  • Have an understanding of the principles of fire safety design in large healthcare facilities.
  • Have effective communication skills to allow them to communicate with all levels across the organisation in both one to one discussions and group presentations.
  • Have significant specialist knowledge of fire safety policies, procedures and practices acquired through specialist training or relevant practical experience in all aspects offire safety management.

The Fire Advisor is responsible for the implementation of all Fire Policies and Procedures (as Deputy to Nominated Officer Fire) across all sites either owned or occupied by the Trust.

They must investigate and report on all fire and false alarm incidents throughout the Trust's premises.

Responsible for ensuring compliance with Fire Code requirements during design, construction and operation of all new build, and also all upgrading and refurbishment of older buildings
