Job summary
Applications are invited for a 12 month appointment as a Clinical Research Fellow in Ophthalmology based within Newcastle Eye Centre at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The main aim of this post is to assist with a number of clinical trials and related projects and to develop new areas of clinical research. There are also clinical sessions in medical/surgical retina. There may be an opportunity for exposure to orbital/oculoplastic research. The post has a good track record of providing clinical and research experience and giving opportunity for presentations and publications. Previous candidates have gone on to secure prestigious clinical fellowships. The department is well resourced with excellent diagnostic retinal imaging equipment, including 3D heads up display for VR surgery. There may be an opportunity for cataract surgery and vitreoretinal theatre depending on interests and experience.

The post is available to commence from ASAP/August 2024. There is no on call banding.
