Job summary
An exciting and challenging position has arisen for a level 2 Apprenticeship in Carpenter / Joiner progressing to Level 3 within The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Support service installations and their maintenance are an essential part of the NHS and form a vital link in Health Care Provision. The precise details of any of the apprenticeship are dependent on a number of factors that may be subject to change at various stages of the training and qualifications already obtained, however, the information below will provide an overview of the envisaged training requirements of the apprenticeship.
The major element of the apprenticeship is practical training in site carpentry to Level 2 Standard progressing onto Level 3; the apprentice will attend the College (Sunderland) one day per week and may spend time on external sites to fulfil elements of the apprenticeship.

Main duties of the job
You will need to be able to meet all the eligibility requirements as prescribed by the apprenticeship criteria to undertake the role
To be eligible for an apprenticeship you must:
- Have the right to work and remain in the UK.
- Have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
- Provide evidence of required English and maths qualifications.
Further information:
- You will not be considered if you have an equivalent or higher qualification in the same or a very similar subject.
- You must not be engaged in any other funded training or education programme.
- We cannot sponsor applicants during or on successful completion of the apprenticeship so please ensure you meet visa status eligibility.
The apprenticeship will commence during the week commencing 27th August 2024, subject to all necessary checks being carried out. Qualifications acceptable on entry are a minimum of GCSE Grade 4, or equivalent, in at least 5 subjects to include Mathematics.
