The Newcastle Clinical Skills Academy is a ground breaking, innovative approach to delivering Continuous Professional Development (CPD) which enhances the Trust's reputation as a teaching, training, and education provider, helping deliver the Trust ambition of being the recognised employer and educator of choice in the NE and beyond.
The role of Business Manager of The Newcastle Clinical Skills Academy (NCSA) will lead the continued design and delivery of a 21st century curriculum to equip the workforce with skills knowledge and expertise necessary to deliver the highest standards in service delivery, provide the highest quality patient care, improve health for local people and capitalise on our world class expertise and research capability.
The successful applicant will lead on the design, development, and commercialisation of CPD programmes, will provide strong leadership and strategic oversight of the work of the Academy, providing robust and transparent governance and strong budgetary control.

Main duties of the job
As Business Manager for the Newcastle Clinical Skills Academy, you will be responsible for the ongoing development of a prospectus of educational resources that support CPD for Health and Social care professionals.
Supported by a detailed business plan, and aligned to the Trust Commercial strategy, you will lead the team to meet income targets by ensuring that delegate numbers are optimised for each newly developed or established course. You will work closely with all team members including the Sales and Marketing Manager, and Curriculum Developer to ensure that all newly developed courses meet the required education standards and are supported by an engaging marketing strategy.
To expand the prospectus, you will engage with key stakeholders and education leads in each clinical board and across the North East Health and Care Alliance, exploring opportunities for collaboration and growth of the Academy. Liaising with third-party providers will build resilience with a reduced reliance on internal delivery.
A key element of this role will be to use market intelligence, and information from Health and Social care developments, initiatives, and policy to explore options for service expansion, to secure the future of the Academy through a varied range of income streams.
Key skills and qualities include adaptability and flexibility, analytical and critical thinking as well as strong communication, including negotiation.
