Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Clinical Physiologist to join our friendly Neurophysiology team as Specialised Clinical Physiologist. The department is in the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. This permanent position would be well suited to an individual who is looking to advance their career in Neurophysiology and gain experience in a wide range of diagnostic investigations.

You should be a qualified Clinical Physiologist in Neurophysiology with experience at an Associate Clinical Physiologist level as a minimum. You are expected to have or be waiting for AHCS or HCPC registration. STP and PTP applicants who are expected to qualify this year will be given full consideration.

Main duties of the job

As a Specialised Clinical Physiologist you will be involved in an extensive range of clinical investigations including:

  • EEGs - routine, sleep, and portable recordings on patients of all ages with a wide variety of medical conditions.
  • Multi-modality evoked potentials
  • Nerve conduction studies
  • Ambulatory EEG
  • Video-telemetry EEG both in-patient and home video-telemetry
  • Intracranial video-telemetry EEG
  • PSG and MSLT
  • Intra-operative monitoring.

Full training will be given for more complex investigations.

The department is actively involved in student training at STP and apprenticeship levels and you would be expected to be part of this.

An on-call rota operates at weekend and bank holidays between the hours of 9am-5pm.
